Go Ask Your Father

Graduation is a time of extremes for most college grads these days. There's the initial excitement as one closes the chapter of one part of her life and looks forward to the next adventure...But that bit about the future can often plunge her into deep despair. It's no secret that the job market is rough right now.

As my fellow classmates are left discouraged and jobless, I have someone to thank: St. Joseph.

Today I accepted my first official teaching job. Not only that, but I actually had two job offers. I am incredibly blessed, and I have my foster father to thank for it. I would encourage anyone who is struggling with employment to "Go to Joseph."

Dear Saint Joseph,
You were yourself once faced with the responsibility of providing the necessities of life for Jesus and Mary.  Look down with fatherly compassion upon me in my anxiety over my present inability to support [myself].  Please help me to find gainful employment very soon, so that this heavy burden of concern will be lifted from my heart and that I am soon able to provide for those whom God has entrusted to my care.

Help us to guard against bitterness and discouragement, so that we may emerge from this trial spiritually enriched and with even greater blessings from God.  Amen
