A Little Bookworm

"No man can be called friendless who has God, and a good book to read." -Elizabeth Barrett Browning

If you are like Violet and I, books are a necessity of life.  Without a good book resting on our bedside table, and another one on our coffee table, and another one in our purse, and another in the car.....etc. etc. etc....(all of which we ARE actually reading from!), life as we know it would simply cease.  There's a charm about books that is totally unlike anything you'll ever encounter elsewhere.  Sure, you can watch a movie, you can listen to music, you can write....but that's never quite like the feeling you get when you nestle down, open the pages of a book, and allow the words to engulf your mind and fill your heart.  When I was a little girl, my favorite thing to do was take a good book, and go find a quiet spot someplace all alone to read.  Sometimes that was sitting on the porch.  Sometimes it was finding a tree half hidden in the woods with a branch that God must have created specifically for me and my book.  Or sometimes it was just laying on my bed next to an open window, breathing in the fresh air and the marvelous world of Jane Austen, Charlotte Bronte, or C.S. Lewis.

I'm excited for my daughter to get to the age where she too can appreciate the world of books.  Though only 5 months old, I already have begun instituting her little library collection.  Everything from board books of learning colors and opposites, to Louisa May Alcott and Laura Ingalls Wilder.  I want her to enjoy escaping into the world of Imagination just as much as I did. (and still do)

Recently, I stumbled across a site that offered discount books! (there's our favorite"d" word: ........discount!)BooksCloseOuts.com offers a variety of ficition, history, children's books and much more at half off the usual price!  So whether you're looking for a book for your children, a new cookbook, or a special gift for a friend, this is a very handy website to add to your favorites!
