Lenten Meditations

Shortly before Lent, I found  this audio disc with a recording of Anne Catherine Emmerich's The Dolorous Passion of Our Lord Jesus Christ. My husband and I have been listening to it on our way to Mass every Sunday and it's an excellent way to, not only prepare for Mass, but also to learn about the particulars of Our Lord's Passion.  Whether you read it or listen to it, this is is a definite must have as we approach Holy Week!

Another excellent resource for Holy Week is Sr. Mary of Agreda's "The Mystical City of God".  Though it may look a bit intimidating at first due to its size, there are so many valuable reading selections enclosed. This is a book I read every Lent over and over.  She gives vivid descriptions of Our Lord's Passion and death, Our Lady's ponderings, the feelings of the Apostles, and most interesting, the sly and deceitful workings of Satan during that time.  Even if you just pick it up to read those selected chapters, it will make your Holy Week all the more fruitful!
